Our New Exercise

Carson has always loved being an "airplane"....I lay on my back on the floor and he lays on my feet in the air and flies like a plane. Well, today we modified this plane play for some leg lifts on my part. Usually I lift him up by holding his hands and he pretends to fly, today I told him to just hold onto my legs while I lifted him up and we did this up and down for a while...talk about feel those muscles burn. He kept wanting to do it, which was a good thing for me, but after a while, I had to move him on to another toy.

As I mentioned in the previous post, Carson loves his I Spy book, he is also really gotten into his Candy Land game and Mikey Mouse Memory game (except right now we play with them all turned upwards) :). Here are some pics of him enjoying his games.

Also, today we went walking around the LSU Lakes and we shaved another 4 min. off our 3.5 mile walk, so it took us an 1hr and 2 min.. I am so proud of myself, I'm going to keep this up.

I Spy......, Smoke Out!!!

Ever since we returned from Dallas this past trip, Carson loves to play, I Spy. Taylor had an I Spy book and he loved to read it. So every time we get in the car now, we play, I Spy. It is so funny to listen to some of the stuff that he "Spy's".

So today, I just couldn't get motivated to do anything, I was going to take Carson to a Thomas the Train event at a local library, but opted out on that idea. Blake said I was mean for not taking him...I just didn't feel like going! So we ended up going to the book store and buying Carson an I Spy book. He absolutely loves it.

Today, I also cooked a Chicken and Sausage Gumbo....are you ready for a funny story about this??

So I have made gumbo several times with no problem, I think today was just one of those days! I started out by making my roux, everything was going fine...stir, stir, stir...and I had it so dark, that I knew it had to be ready, but it just didn't look right, it wasn't "pasty" enough. So, being impatient, I cranked up the heat to try and get a "quick" paste, boy was that the wrong idea. All of a sudden it started smoking so bad and the smell of burnt roux was all throughout the house! I turned around to look in the living room and the entire house was nothing but smoke! I had to open the front door and open several windows to try and get the smoke out. I was so hoping no body would walk by our house and smell this hideous smell and call the fire department because smoke was coming out....and all this while having 50' weather outside! Thank goodness while at the store I bought a jar of pre-made roux, because I had used all of the EVOO (extra virgin olive oil, for those of you who don't watch Rachael Ray) in the burnt batch of roux!

So the gumbo in the long run came out really well. When Blake walked in from work this afternoon, he asked me what that smell was...I told him, "Don't even ask"!

Sucking it Up!

So Carson and I headed out for a walk around the lakes this morning...yes in the 40' weather!! We sucked it up and went, because I'm keeping with my plan of walking off this weight!! All the other moms cancelled out on us, but it really wasn't that bad. This time we walked opposite of the traffic, so we wouldn't have the gush of wind in our face every time someone passed us.

We did the 3 1/2 miles in 1 hr 6 min....we're slowly going to shave time off of this, we even jogged a little ways, "little" is the big word here, hey, but at least it's a start!!

Fun Sites

While Nona (Blake's mom) was here for Christmas, she showed Carson a couple sites that she uses with her kids (she's a Elementary teacher). Carson loves these sites! Check them out with your little ones if you get a chance.

Fun with Friends

Yesterday, Carson and I went to visit with Anamaria and her girls. We went to the park in her apartment complex and the kids had so much fun! It's so exciting to watch the kids play so happily together. Even Gamila is starting to get into the action since she is walking now!

Today, we met a couple friends at the LSU lakes for walking and play time at the beach. I'm not sure how far we walked, but it took us about an hour and 15 min. or so to walk around the lakes. I'm going to have to drive around the path we walk in our car to see how far it is. After walking, we went and had a picnic on the beach. The kids loved the sand.

Soccer Super Star

Blake got a new Golf/Soccer Net for Christmas (golf for Blake, soccer for Carson), so Carson and I put it together this afternoon and had a blast playing with it!

This thing was a lot bigger than we thought, but is great!
