Busy Week

Carson and I had been away from our friends for about 2 weeks, while swimming lessons was going on, but this week has been packed full. We love spending time with our friends. Also, I finally got a night out and went and had dinner with my good friend Anamaria. She is moving to Houma in a few weeks and we'll still get to see her, but not as often, so we went and had a great dinner last night, followed up by some Marble Slab Ice Cream. It was delicious.

Here are some of our photos from this week:

It was too early to go home after the bouncy place, so we decided to go to the park and let the kiddo's burn off some more energy!

Blue Birds and Swimming

Today we spent the day at Mimi's and Pop's, just like every Sunday. Had a nice and somewhat quiet day, that is until Carson stepped on a stinging caterpillar! Gosh those things hurt, he has a nice little impression of the caterpillars stings right down the middle of the arch of his foot. Dang it, I thought those things were gone, guess not!
Also today, we spotted a mama blue bird going back and forth to the blue bird house, so I went to take a peek to see if she had babies, this is what I found:

Mama was not happy with me taking pics of her babies, she was a steady chirping at me

After we found these babies, we wanted to check out the other blue bird house back by the barn and this is what we found:
3 little blue bird eggs

After getting home, Carson wanted to have some fun with the water hose, so he made himself a make-shift pool:

He had a blast!

Swimming Graduation

Thursday was Carson's last day at swimming and he officially advanced to level 2. Carson did great. He still needs to practice on his kicking and hopefully this summer we'll get some swim time to work on this.
Here is some pictures that we took on Thursday, his last day of swimming.

Drag Races

This weekend, Blake, BJ and I took Carson to his first Drag Race. It was really neat and he really enjoyed it, that is until they fired up the jet engine dragsters. Blake prepared him by watching the videos of the jet engine machines on YouTube, but I guess nothing can really prepare you for this. These things were LOUD!

They had 2 jet engine dragsters that looked like Choo Choo trains, that he loved and also a big Eighteen wheeler that had a jet engine. We were sitting right near the starting line, so whenever they started up, we could feel it in our chest. Carson wore BJ's ear muffs the entire time, even when the cars weren't even running, he wanted to wear them. We eventually had to take them off of him because he was sweating so much underneath them.

Flying High

Pop's has always been into airplanes. He has owned a handful of planes as a side hobby of his (along with every other hobby he has) and loves flying. He has made many trips around the United States visiting different places. Pop's and I flew to Cleveland, OH about 12 years ago in one of his planes to visit Julie when she lived there. It was lots of fun, took us about 7 hrs to get there. I haven't flown with Pop's in a while, his new airplane is a Kolb. It's an experimental type plane, I think that's why I'm a bit leery of flying in it. But, Pop's is a great pilot, so I trust him, just haven't taken that step into it yet.

Pop's is currently on a 2 week vacation, flying his Kolb with about 6 other guys with the same kinda planes. They've been to New Mexico, Utah, Nevada and many other states in between. Pop's had a slight problem with one of his tires while landing on the bumpy air strips there, but it's all taken care of now and he's good to go.

Carson hasn't yet been flying with Pop's, Pop's said he had to be "Potty Trained" before he took him anywhere, so since he's finally "PT'd", I'm sure it won't be too long before Carson is up and flying with Pop's!
The Tri-Pacer we flew to Cleveland, OH in, yes, that's me, back in the days :)

Cessna 182, this is the last plane he had before his new experimental plane. Last he checked, it was in Alaska still flying high!

Week 1 of Swimming Lessons

I hate to say it, but I'm glad this week of swimming lessons is OVER. Driving to Baton Rouge everyday is getting OLD!! But, it's for my baby...oh, I mean Big Boy, to learn how to swim, so atleast there's some good coming out of it.

This week Carson has learned to (I know this because I peek through the fence all the time):

*Stay under water for 3 seconds and come back up
*Push off the side and float like "Superman" to his teacher
*Go under water and get a toy and come back up
*Jump off the side of the pool and turn around and grab the side
*He is still working on the kicking part, he can't grab ahold of the concept of keeping his legs on top of the water and kicking while swimming to his teacher, he'll get it though eventually.
*I'm sure there's more that they do while I'm not looking, but this is the jest of it.

Wow, all this in just 4 days!! His teacher, Miss Lexi, says that he is doing awesome!

Swimming Lessons

Carson started swimming lessons on Monday at Crawfish Aquatics. He was so excited to go "swim like a fish", you would have never known this seeing him at the end on the first lesson. Poor baby, I took a couple peeks through the fence while he was in the pool and could hear him crying and screaming. I felt so bad for him, but he has to have it, no if's, and's or but's about it. We are at Mimi's and Pop's pond way to often for him not to learn how to swim. When the instructor brought him out of the gait, he was huffing and puffing, crying so hard. Funny thing is when he finally settled down in the car, he said it was fun. And, he told Blake and several other family members it was fun??? That is until night time came around and it was time for bedtime, I guess while laying there trying to go to sleep, it gave him time to think back about the day and that "horrid" swimming school :). He cried for at least a good hour before finally going to sleep, he kept saying he didn't want to go swimming.

So this morning came and the first thing that came out of his mouth was, "I not go swimming". But I bribed and bribed him and he finally agreed to go if I had a "surprise" for him. I told him the only way he could get a surprise was if the teacher told me he did good and there was NO crying. So all the way to the swimming school, we talked about how such a big boy he was and that swimming was fun and there was not going to be any crying today. So his teacher came and got him and I reminded him that there had to be no crying to get his surprise.

Oh my goodness he did so good today, the teacher was so impressed and there was NO crying. While peeking through the fence again today I saw him pushing off the side of the pool, floating to the instructor and then them giving High 5's and Awesomes and Good Jobs! So when swimming was over, she brought him out and said he did excellent. The first thing out of Carson's mouth was, "I get my surprise!". So, he got a new Monster truck. He loves it, along with the 16 other ones that he has!

Carson will do swimming lessons Monday thru Thursday for 2 weeks and on the last day, we get to go in and watch and take pictures. I can not wait to see my little swimmer up close and not through a fence that is wrapped in red!

Baking!

Yesterday, Carson and I stayed around the house. It was kinda gloomy outside and I just did not feel like going anywhere.

Carson and I cleaned the house and then made some YUMMY blueberry muffins. We still have blueberries left over from last years picking, so I figured we needed to use them up before we went to get more this year. Julie sent me this yummy recipe and Carson really enjoyed help make them.

Potty Trained!

Man, is it really this easy??? Carson is now on day three of his potty training and NO accidents today. Actually, while he was outside playing, he just dropped his drawers and tee tee'd on the fence :0 !! I told him he was ONLY allowed to do this at our house or Mimi's and Pop's.

Carson made 2 trips away from the house today and was great. We went to mawmaw's for about 2 hours and he pottied there, on his own, without us asking. And then, Carson went to play at the neighbors house with her grandson who is a month older than Carson and I told him to make sure that he told Mrs. Lander when he had to go potty. When I went to get him, she told me that Carson asked to go to the potty, she said he did it all by himself!

I guess maybe next week, we will try to venture out further from the house and see how he does.

I'm so proud of him, I know that we'll most probably have some accidents here and there, but I guess I can officially say, he is potty trained, 3 day record!

Potty Training Success, Day #2

Today has been just as good as the first day of Potty Training. Carson woke up at 6:30am saying he needed to go potty, so off he went! He only had one accident again today and that was while outside playing. I had just asked him if he needed to potty and he said no, but came in about 20 sec. later saying he tee tee'd outside and was all wet. I've come to the conclusion that while outside, I just need to TELL HIM to come inside and potty, NOT ask him.

He goes and potty's all by himself, without me telling him or asking him to go, while he is inside. Also, this morning, we had another great success. Carson poo'd on the potty twice!!!

I hate to say this, because I know I'm going to jinx myself, but he has been SO EASY so far, but I know it's only day 2. Carson got a total of 13 stars today on his potty chart.

I'm kinda nervous about venturing out in public (store, mall, etc.) with big boy underwear, but he's so good about going, I'm sure he'll do great. I'll just make sure to pack extra clothes with me.
