Potty Training, Day #1

I guess we started potty training, just out of the blue.....

Last night, was like every other night, asking Carson if he would like to go try and potty before taking a bath...and we got the same old answer, "No, I can't"...ugh.

So, Blake had the idea of showing him a new Matchbox Firetruck he had bought him a couple days ago and had been saving for a "good deed" that Carson did. Blake told him, if he would tee tee in the potty, he could have the firetruck. Blake took one of those suction cup things and hung the firetruck on the mirror in the bathroom. We let Carson go without a diaper after his bath and kept telling him that if he felt he had to go potty, run to the bathroom and use the potty, so he could get his firetruck. Well after an 1hr and a half of running around, without pottying, I told him it was time to put his diaper on, because it was "night night" time, he took off running to the potty and tee tee'd!!! Blake and I threw such a big celebration about it, high 5's, hugs, the works. He was so happy to get his firetruck.

So today, after waking up this morning, I asked him if he wanted to try and tee tee on the potty, and he ran and tee tee'd!!! More celebrating took place and Carson and I headed to the store to buy some "potty prizes". His favorite is the miniature Reese's.

So the outcome of today's potty training....ready.....only one accident while outside playing. The entire day was spent in big boy undies and only 1 accident!!! This includes to and from Mimi's and Pop's house, out fishing in the pond, running around, all in big boy undies!! I did put him in a diaper for nap time, just because it was the first day, but I made him go potty before napping and he woke up dry! He went on the potty a total of 8 times!!! I'm so proud of him!

Now, tomorrow we will work on the sticker system. I've made a Potty Chart and he has to have at least 3 stickers before he gets a prize. Hopefully tomorrow will be just as good!!!
